The ancients highly praised the wine’s of the Pompei area: as Plinius once wrote “the terrain and the environment, not just the vine, make the difference, and ageing is of a benefit”. Coda di Volpe wine derives from the ancient vine “Cauda Vulpium”, so called for its characteristic grape form, curved and long up to 40 cm. The type of wine cultivated on the slopes of the Vesuvius is also locally called “caprettone” or “crapettone”. It has a dry taste and its well bodied with a fine, pleasant and harmonic fragrance, which makes it a balanced and versatile wine.
